Morson Projects’ Sellafield Operations team, based at Westlakes Science Park, Moor Row, is celebrating after receiving an internationally recognised award for demonstrating consistently high health and safety standards.

We are proud to have been presented with the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) President’s Award, marking our 13th consecutive year of recognition. This achievement reflects our unwavering commitment to ensuring that our staff and contractors return home safely at the end of every working day.

Now in its 69th year, the RoSPA Awards represent the UK’s largest and most influential health and safety awards programme. With almost 2,000 entries submitted annually from more than 50 countries — impacting over seven million employees worldwide — the awards showcase organisations that set the benchmark for excellence in health and safety.

Winning a RoSPA Award is more than a mark of recognition; it is a symbol of achievement in protecting lives, driving continuous improvement, and inspiring best practice across industries. By securing this award once again, Morson Projects reinforces its position as a business dedicated to the highest standards of health, safety, and wellbeing.

Ian Woodburn, Head of Engineering – Sellafield, said:

“Building on our successes since first entering the RoSPA Health and Safety Award in 2012. Winning our 13th consecutive RoSPA Gold (President’s Medal) Award is more than a milestone; it is a reflection of the culture we’ve built together, every single person in the Sellafield Operations team. Each of our 80+ work colleagues plays a role in making sure we all go home safe, every single day.

“I am really proud that we continue to be recognised, earning this gold medal for our hard work by such a prestigious organisation as RoSPA. Thank you to all who made 2024 yet another successful and uneventful (incident and accident-wise) year!”

Julia Small, RoSPA’s Achievements Director, said:

“Workplace accidents don’t just pose financial risks and operational disruptions; they significantly impact the quality of life for individuals. This is why acknowledging and rewarding excellent safety performance is vital.

“We congratulate Morson Projects for winning a prestigious RoSPA Award and showing an unwavering commitment to keeping employees, clients and customers safe from accidental harm and injury.”
