Based in our Bristol office, Max has been working at Morson Projects since 2024, where at the age of 19 we welcomed him as an Apprentice Engineer.
Max is currently studying a Higher National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering at City of Bristol Engineering college, and is due to finish in 2026.
Max’s says, “Every experience, no matter how big or small, has the potential to teach valuable lessons and contribute to personal and professional growth.”
We caught up with Max to hear more about their Early Careers Development Programme journey so far:
Hi Max! What has your education journey been like so far?

My educational journey began with primary and secondary education, where I developed a passion for Physics and Computer Science. This enthusiasm inspired me to pursue both subjects during my A-levels. After completing my A-levels, I sought for work experience opportunities and came across Morson Projects.
During my two-week placement, I gained valuable insights into the world of engineering and quickly realized it was the field I wanted to pursue. Following this experience, Morson Projects opened the door for me to become the first Engineering Apprentice in their Bristol office.
What are some of the most interesting projects you’ve worked on?
During my time at Morson Projects, I have worked on a diverse range of projects, gaining first-hand experience in various aspects of engineering. These opportunities have allowed me to contribute to both complex and simpler projects, broadening my skill set.
For instance, I have been involved in fixed-wing studies, such as FWCAT, where I gained valuable insight into advanced aerospace engineering. Additionally, I worked on more straightforward modelling tasks, including remodeling an R/C model airplane engine, which helped refine my technical and design skills. These experiences have deepened my understanding of engineering principles and reinforced my enthusiasm for the field.
What motivates you in your work?
My motivation in my work comes from my passion in engineering and the exciting projects I have been involved in. I find great fulfilment in tackling technical challenges, learning new skills, and seeing the impact of my contributions. In addition to this, I am fully aware that the opportunity I have been given with Morson Projects is highly valuable. This understanding pushes me to make the most of every experience, continuously open to expand my knowledge. I approach every task with enthusiasm and a strong desire to grow, ensuring that I take full advantage of the learning opportunities available to me.
How does the company support your professional growth and development?
My growth within the business is strongly supported, especially through my mentor, Lead Stress Engineer, Devik Patel, who was assigned to me via the Early Careers Development Program. I feel confident reaching out to him with any questions or challenges I have. Additionally, the engineers in the Bristol office are always willing to guide me, helping me develop the right techniques to tackle any obstacles.

What are your career aspirations for the next five years?
Over the next five years, my goal is to advance as far as possible within the engineering field while simultaneously completing all my qualifications. I am committed to continuously developing my technical expertise, ensuring that my skills are refined and well-prepared for any challenges that lie ahead.
By gaining hands-on experience, expanding my knowledge, and embracing every learning opportunity, I aim to build a strong foundation that will allow me to contribute effectively to future engineering projects.
What tips would you give to others starting out in industry?
My best advice would be to seize every opportunity that comes your way and approach it with the mindset that it’s your last. Every experience, no matter how big or small, has the potential to teach valuable lessons and contribute to personal and professional growth. By fully committing to each opportunity, staying proactive, and pushing yourself beyond your comfort zone, you can make the most of every experience.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Outside of work, I prioritize staying active by aiming to train at the gym regularly. Fitness plays a crucial role in keeping me both physically and mentally happy. In addition to my gym sessions, I have a strong passion for sports, particularly ice hockey, which I play on the weekends.
