This year also marked the debut of the Early Careers Development Programme Awards, a new initiative recognising individuals who embody and demonstrate our company’s core values of Care, Collaboration, Courage, and Curiosity.

One of the event’s highlights was the announcement of the Curious Award winner:

Recognising a Commitment to Curiosity

For the Curious Award, the judges sought after an employee with a clear thirst for knowledge and a drive for personal and professional development. The judges looked for a questioning mindset and an eagerness to receive constructive feedback, as well as a capacity for “thinking outside the box” in problem-solving and creativity. They also looked for someone who asks probing questions that lead to deeper exploration of topics, promoting a culture of curiosity and exploration.

2024 Curious Award Winner: Adam Peck

A huge congratulations to our 2024 Curious Award winner, Adam Peck who is a Designer within our Marine & Aerospace Team. Adam’s dedication to learning, innovative mindset, and proactive approach to improving processes have made him standout in our Early Careers Development Programme.

What the judges had to say about Adam

The judges commended Adam for his strong orientation toward learning and his ability to think critically about existing processes. Adam’s commitment to understanding not only “what” is happening but “why” makes him an invaluable member of the team. He doesn’t shy away from questioning established practices if he sees a way to improve them. By presenting alternative solutions and innovative methods, he has made an impact on his own work while encouraging others to think more deeply about theirs.

“Adam has been awarded the Curious Award for his remarkable learning orientation and innovative mindset. His tenacious appetite for knowledge allows him to grasp the underlying reasons behind processes, enabling him to challenge ambiguity and confidently identify flaws in established practices. By presenting alternative methods that enhance efficiency, Adam not only improves his own work but also inspires his teammates to question the status quo and seek a deeper understanding of their tasks.”

Due to such close scoring against the judging criteria, this category also celebrated two Highly Commended recipients:

  • Cameron Michael, Junior Stress Engineer – Marine & Aerospace Team
  • Finley Nottingham, Trainee Technician – Civil & Structural Team

Congratulations to both Cameron and Finley for their impressive displays of curiosity, creativity, and dedication to learning.
